not boring

I'm sorry if I bored you with my last post. I didn't have much time and I thought my project was sort of interesting so I just posted part of my essay.

No economics! YESS! I hadn't finished it and the chapter was very confusing. I don't get the graphs. So now I have two weeks to figure it out.

Here is a survey for you to answer in your comments!

1. What's the last sentence you spoke? (that you can remember)

2. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

3. What pops into your mind when you think of me?

4. What word best describes your mood right now: cheery, blue, on top of the world, nervous, bored, depressed, chaotic, germy, loved, sleepy, colorful, sparkling, jumpy. You can pick more than one if you want!

5. Do I need to update more?

6. If you could have one of these things if you were stranded on a desert island, what would it be? Sunscreen, chapstick, a GameBoy, a fishing rod, your little brother, a radio, a basketball, a cat.

Well, I must go, in fact I should have gotten off a long time ago. I hope my survey was more interesting than my homework and if you read this you MUST comment! Got it? Good.

fizzix project!

The crumple zone of a car is its rear end and front end. These areas are designed to crumple, or smash up, upon impact (as opposed to attempting to remain as unchanged as possible). The area in which passengers and the driver sit, however, is a safety zone. It is reinforced with bars strong enough to withstand a crash.

The purpose of the crumple zone is to decrease the force experienced by the occupants of the car during a crash into something immovable, like a brick wall. Crumple zones accomplish this by increasing the time it take the vehicle to stop. A rigid car will stop almost right away, making the “change in time” in the equation below very short. A car that smashes up will take longer to stop, since the car can go farther “into” the wall (or other object) while its front or rear is busy getting smashed up.

Acceleration = change in velocity ÷ change in time

As this equation illustrates, acceleration is large when time change is small, and vice versa. Thus, a car with a crumple zone has a smaller acceleration than one without a crumple zone. The next equation shows that this means the person in the car (and the car itself) will experience a smaller force than if no crumple zone were present.

Force = mass × acceleration

The person in the car has the same velocity and acceleration as the car (even if he or she appears to be sitting still), but the force will be different because mass is taken into account.

Mathematically, if the change in time caused by the crumple zone is, for example, 0.10 seconds instead of 0.01 seconds without a crumple zone, acceleration and force will be one-tenth as great as they would be otherwise! This change could be enough to stop you from going through the windshield, and it could possibly save your life.

Isn't that interesting?

I updated!!

Sorry I haven't updated for a while! My dad's laptop--the only Internet computer at our house-- is currently in Washington, D.C. with him or I would have updated last night.

Anyway...I'm back to school. I got 2nd place in the speech contest. That's good because it satisfies my crave to be good at whatever I do, and it means that I don't have to go on to finals, which is good because I don't have time to go to finals right now. I messed up a little (no one else messed up AT ALL except one girl who got so nervous she ran out of the room to throw up.) However, the rest of the speakers didn't really connect with the audience very much. It was hard for me to get them to laugh (maybe they were too serious after all the we-must-do-this-right-now speeches?), but they did a little bit. That's the best way to get an audience to like you!

SonRise was fun. I didn't sleep as much as I meant to. All the games and everything seemed to get pushed back later than they were supposed to be, so I think that there was less sit-around-and-and-play-I-Never time so I didn't feel like sleeping was worth it. I did snooze for a little bit though. We made movies instead of bowling. Ours was really stupid. We were all hyper (well some of us...including me...) and couldn't stop laughing, plus we accidentally filmed parts where we were talking about what we should do next and we didn't know how to re-record over that stuff. So we didn't win anything in the Academy Awards but that's OK. Some of the other movies, that had plots and non-laughing actors, were pretty good.

On Saturday I got home and read the funnies and had a peice of cake and went to bed. I slept until my sister (who had to go to lifeguarding class) yelled at me to get up. That was at 2:30. I was not ready to get up but I did anyway and went outside and thought about doing homework (but didn't actually do it). Then that night I went to "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the IRT with Allen and Zachary and Elliot and some people from Southside. It was sort of cool and pretty understandable for being Shakespeare, but I think that if we tried to do anything like that for the play Mrs. Long would give us a lecture two hours long. (Suggestive dancing, in case if you were wondering.) After that we went to Johnny Rocket's in the mall and ate overpriced food. Personally, I prefer McDonald's type pricing but not their type of food. That rarely works in real life. If only I could plant a money tree in my backyard...

Overall, life is pretty good. I love the beautiful weather and I'm getting my senior pictures taken on Thursday and I can't wait! At least one of them is going to have Breezy in it. Breezy is a beautiful bay horse in case if you were wondering.

I hope all of you have a wonderful day! Thanks for checking my blog even though there tends to be a bit of a lack of updation...

back to work...

Last week I had spring break from everything but piano lessons and speech class (which was a breeze since I am exempt from the rest of the speeches this semester! Hallelujah!). I didn't really do anything special, except shove all my school books under my bed and ignore them. That felt really, really, really good.

So, I worked all day for three days, and on Friday night I went to Follow the North Star at Connor Prairie where Bekah works. It was cool. I think they should make it scarier, or maybe have a more scary version for braver individuals or something, but it was cool. I recognized Bekah right away because of her voice, but otherwise she was a totally different person! Afterwards we went to Steak n Shake. That was fun too except my dad had given me clear directions to be home by midnight and I called home and my mom didn't have a problem with me going and stuff, but I was still kind of worried that my dad would be a bit upset (to say the least). But he was fine, which is good. Then Ellie was sleeping over because she and Jessica had been at Rivi together, so I was up until like 3:30 am talking and stuff. Actually I was asleep for a little bit but I woke up at 3:30 when this song I don't like came on the radio. I can't even remember what song it was now! And it is very strange that it woke me up cuz they had had the radio on for awhile before that.

Anyway, that is about all that I can think of that is interesting enough to write about. My speech contest is next Monday at 7:30 so ya'll can pray for me! At first I was sort of not exactly mad but dismayed that I was the one chosen, but in typical Sara fashion, now all I want is to WIN!!!!

This Friday is SonRise and I can't wait! It will be fun! Except I don't think I am going to stay up all night again. It really isn't worth it. The last few hours you are so tired nothing is all that fun, and then you waste all of Saturday sleeping.

Praise God for life! In the midst of a bunch of schoolwork, I appreciate that I really have a pretty easy life!

cheap is good

Today I went to Goodwill. I like that place more every time I go there. I think that's because every time I go, I'm poorer. Today, for example, I had $6.00. Now, I have $2.00 and some change. But that's OK, because I also have a new skirt. And I had a bottle of water, but it's gone because I was thirsty. Yes, I got a bottle of water at Goodwill. It was not used (ew, that would be gross!). It was overstocks and it cost me 69 whole cents.

As my title says, cheap is good. I love designer clothes perhaps a little too much, and for certain things would probably pay a bit, but the more I live the more I like to get stuff on really cheap sales or at Goodwill.

I hate to have such a short little boring post, so I am going to post my comment from Jeremiah's blog:

In response to the stuff about dating someone you're not going to marry:
I think that it is very unusual to date only one person and marry them. So, dating someone you won't end up marrying is probably going to happen, but when you go out with some one you should ask yourself before saying yes/asking them out: "Do I think I can have a future with this person?" If you answer no, for example the person is not a Christian or someone you like but don't really think you will be able to marry, you should NOT go out with them. Also you should not go out with someone in hopes that that will convince them to get saved. More likely, they'll just think, "oh I guess her faith doesn't mean all that much to her after all if she's compromising in order to go out with me." It might seem OK to go out with someone who is a really good friend, Christian, etc but not someone you could marry, but it isn't. You will end up hurting at least two people.

This has been an editorial from the desk of Sara. More is available upon request!

If you want the whole thing about it, well, read Jeremiah's blog! I love stating the obvious. Such as: this post is over. Toodles! Have an awesome sunshiny day!
