You should read David's post on Christmas:

Now I know that David is not an antichristmastarian yet but I believe he might be on his way...Our numbers are growing! We are going to take over the world! Bwahahaha!

Nah, you won't. You won't even take over mainstream Christianity. And I'm working on my own post to counteract you AntiChristmistarians. Although Easter holds a warmer place in my heart and I'm ready to defend that even more strongly.

And that will make you the last of a futile resistance. Go Reformers!

    Hah. I mock anti-christmas legalism.

    I also mock pagan commercialism.

They're two sides of the spectrum that need to lighten up. Christmas can be great if you do it right and keep it from becoming a greedy shell of a holiday. One thing I've really enjoyed in the past is the Kokomo RPC's Christmas tradition of singing through through Christ's life in the Psalms mixed with reading passages from the gospels. Its also a great time to be a loving witness to non-believing friends and family.

I know of some people who would give back any christmas present the (non-believing) grandparents gave to their kids. Pharisees.

Kara: Umm just because something holds a warm spot in your heart does not mean that it is good...but knowing you there is more to it than that so I shall read your post!
Jacob: See above post. Getting together with your family is not evil. Giving me a great present is not evil...but I would prefer that you wait til January lol. HOWEVER, worshipping God in a way that He does not say to apparently is evil...He *killed* Nadab and Abihu over it. (Also see above post!)
Anonymous: So you laugh and scorn but fail to leave your name...how very brave of you! Although considering how small Kokomo RP is that narrows it down quite a bit...lol. Yes I am sure there is error on both sides. I am trying to be careful this time around. I don't think people who celebrate Christmas are horribly evil. In fact I am sure some of them are stronger Christians than I am--much stronger. But I still don't think that God wants them to celebrate Christmas in worship of Him. Do you?

Sorry for the anonymity. This is Brandon Fisher and I was making a rare trip through the RP blog ring. I didn't take the time to sign in.

BTW I don't scorn, I only mock. And only with a single syllable "hah." Sarcasm doesn't travel well through the keyboard, I apologize if I offend.

So your argument is that the regulative principal applies to Holidays? I don't see the direct association of worship to celebrating Christmas. There is a sense in which we can worship God every day apart from the corporate setting but to say that restricts us from celebrating a holiday, especially one that can point people to Christ, is incorrect, in my opinion. Do you refrain from praising God on your birthday? Or maybe you don't celebrate birthdays, and if you don't, I admire your stoic consistency.

Welcome to the blog, Brandon! You are right that sarcasm does not travel well...neither does being offended because I was not. It is very hard to offend me through the internet. Usually I just fall off my chair laughing or I get that wrinkly thing going on my forehead when I don't understand what someone's point is.

I think both you and Nathan have made me realize that "worship" is not the right term to describe what's going on at Christmas. I celebrate birthdays. I celebrate Thanksgiving. I celebrate not having any homework. I celebrate sunshine. I celebrate getting new shoes. However I do not chose to celebrate a day that is supposed to honor God, but is founded in paganism, and currently seems to glory getting presents and a jolly old man with flying reindeer. If you want more of my opinion, because clearly I could go on...for a lot longer than I should...read my comment on David's blog or my other post.

May God bless you all as you seek to glorify Him to all the world!
